To get lost is to become unfamiliar with your surroundings; the world has become larger than your knowledge of it and this signals a loss of control, a surrender to the unknown.
In this video work, we explored the space of the unknown through animating and disassembling footage of historic green spaces in Toronto. We present the city as force of nature surrounding cherished green spaces, which dissolve into abstract, modernist architectural forms.
This piece was produced for the Gladstone Hotel’s annual landscape exhibition, Grow-Op, and shown onsite during April of 2016.
